How much does it cost to charter a private jet in 2026?
Hourly rates by aircraft class, what the quote includes, and the taxes and fees that sit on top. Real route examples from New York, Miami and Los Angeles.

Private jet pricing is built from the flight hour. The operator sets an hourly rate for the aircraft that covers crew, fuel, maintenance reserves and insurance, and multiplies it by the block time of your flight plus any repositioning needed to get the aircraft to you and home again.
In the current US market, light jets such as the Phenom 300E and Citation CJ4 run $3,200–5,500 per hour. Midsize jets (Citation XLS+, Latitude, Praetor 500) run $4,300–8,500. Super-midsize aircraft (Challenger 350, G280, Praetor 600) run $6,500–12,000. Heavy jets (Challenger 650, G550, Falcon 900LX) run $8,000–15,000, and ultra-long-range aircraft (G650ER, Global 7500, G700) run $12,000–25,000.
What sits on top
Domestic flights carry the 7.5% Federal Excise Tax plus a segment fee of $5.30 per passenger per leg in 2026. International flights pay a per-passenger head tax instead. Landing and handling fees range from a few hundred dollars at a regional airport to several thousand at Aspen or Teterboro at peak. Crew overnights, de-icing in winter and catering beyond the standard selection are itemized separately.
Most operators apply a daily minimum of two flight hours. That is why a 50-minute hop can cost nearly as much as a two-hour flight, and why empty legs, which have no minimum, are such good value when the timing works.
Three real examples
New York (Teterboro) to Miami (Opa-locka), light jet, one way: about 2 hours 40 minutes of flight time, typically $18,500–24,000 before tax. Los Angeles (Van Nuys) to Aspen, light jet: about 1 hour 55 minutes, $13,500–17,000. New York to London, heavy jet: 6 hours 50 minutes, $85,000–115,000 depending on aircraft and date.
Every quote we send separates the hourly charge, repositioning, fees and taxes, and names the operator. If a quote you receive elsewhere does not, ask why.
